Bad kettlebell form on TV

So we're surfing the web and see a fitness "expert" on WKOW in Wisconsin, demonstrate kettlebells. After a demonstration of the deadlift we move on to the swing. bad swing form

Look how the bell hangs down from her hand ?
A proper kettlebell swing would have the kettlebell's momentum keeping it nearly parallel with the (straight) arms ; The instructor's swing technique has the bell hanging in the breeze.....

Look how the bell hangs down from her hand? The instructor's swing technique has the kettlebell hanging from the hands, and is more like a squat with a forward shoulder rise- Due to her innate athleticism and the low weight being used this poor technique is still "doable" but it is not enought to feel the hip snap effectively. More , at heavier weights this lack of upward momentum will also put a lot of strain on the thumbs.

A proper kettlebell swing (http://www.kettlestack.com/kettlebells/training/swings) with real momentum would have the kettlebell nearly parallel with the arms good kettlebell swing form. If the kettlebell hangs down or sags, then it's a front raise, not a swing.

Speaking of thumb strain, the instructor then demonstrates a windmill motion with the kettlebell on the wrong side of the forearm:WOW! Bad Windmill

The kettlebell should be on the back of the wrist. It removes thumb strain and improves the balance- as demonstrate by Krista:

good windmill starting position

As kettlebells get more popular this type of poor technique will likely be seen more often.
